FAQ

What should I do to prepare for treatment?

For your first treatment be sure to read and fill out the ‘New Patient Information’ packet. It is best to wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing that allows access to the arms and lower legs. Eat a small but not too filling meal at least 1-2 hours before your appointment, try to avoid caffeine, and be sure to drink a sufficient amount of water.

Does acupuncture hurt?

No. Acupuncture uses very fine filiform needles that are solid instead of hollow like the hypodermic needles used by doctors and dentists. Some people don’t even feel the insertion at all. Occasionally, some may experience a brief twinge or mild pinching sensation as the needles are inserted. Your feedback helps determine the appropriate treatment for your comfort level as it is common for the needles to stimulate sensations such as warmth, coolness, pressure, or a dull ache. These feelings are therapeutic and normal reactions to the body recalibrating the flow of energy. Often times patients become so relaxed they fall asleep during treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

This answer varies from person to person based on the severity and timeline of the condition. Most people receive weekly treatment for six to ten weeks, but some issues may take longer to treat while others can clear up faster than usual. A sudden onset or acute situation may require twice weekly treatment in the beginning, while a chronic, stubborn, condition often calls for a longer duration of treatment. Many patients prefer continuing weekly appointment to suit their epic and sometimes hectic lifestyles, while others usually book monthly maintenance appointments (unless new symptoms arise). We will periodically review your progress and work together to ensure the best course of action for you and your desired results.

Is it safe?

Absolutely! Acupuncturists spend many hours studying the human body in courses such as basic anatomy & physiology, living anatomy, point location, needling techniques and… The needles are very small, made from sterile surgical steel and are only used once. They don’t tear the skin or cause bleeding, which allows for painless acupuncture.

Does acupuncture work?

Yes. Evidence-based research and controlled trials have shown that acupuncture is an effective treatment for numerous diseases and conditions. Read more about what acupuncture treats.

What are the benefits of acupuncture?

What is integrative and functional medicine?

Integrative and functional medicine utilizes ancient wisdom and modern science to create a more comprehensive approach to healing. Using western medical lab analysis, with more finely tuned 'normal limit' values, we can get to the root of imbalances via testing for things like digestive dysfunction, parasites, hormone imbalances and more.

Acupuncture

Many common illnesses are caused by physiological blockages (known as stagnations) and relative states of ‘excess and deficiency’ that eventually lead to more serious diseases. These imbalances and stagnations can provoke symptoms such as: allergies, digestive issues, headaches, infertility, pain and much more. This state of dis-ease and blockage causes other bodily functions to go awry and enhances the compounded aspects of life changing illnesses. The art of acupuncture aims to recalibrate and rebalance health by promoting the smooth flow of energy and other key substances in the body in order to support and nourish organs, glands and tissues.

A little bit of history…

  • Esoteric Acupuncture

    Esoteric Acupuncture

Esoteric Acupuncture is a form of acupuncture that combines Sacred Geometry, the Chakra system, the Kabbalah, the Taoist meaning of the acupuncture points, and guided visualization. It was developed by Dr. Mikio Sankey when he was deep in meditation up at Mt. Shasta, and brings an influx of cosmic energy to activate and align different layers of the energy system. These treatments balance the chakras, subtle and astral bodies, and strengthen our connection between heart and head, soul and body.

Her ability to create a protocol fully customized to my exact needs has created massive shifts for my overall well-being in such a short amount of time! I feel seen, sane and validated for the intuitive pings I have been receiving with regards to my health and level of energetic purity. She is both graciously down to earth and highly tapped in to the realm of the unseen... My experiences in this life have led me to develop a high level of discernment with those who care for my temple, and I trust her completely.Walking into her office is a breath of fresh air, and the delicate touches she’s created in that space are a testament to her loving intention and depth of character. I love her, and I’m so thankful to have found such a wonderful Earth Angel to provide nourishment on my path.
